The purpose of the Carer Respite & Support service is to provide a single accessible point for carers who need information on respite or other support options or assistance with accessing respite in the Far North Coast.

Eligibility for service:

Our clients are carers who:

  • Are parents, partners, other family members, friends or neighbours,
  • Provide a regular significant level of support to a person who is frail aged, has dementia, a disability, a chronic, terminal or mental illness,
  • Provide support on an unpaid basis; excluding government pensions,
  • Live in the local government areas of Tweed, Ballina, Byron, Clarence, Richmond Valley, Lismore or Kyogle.

How we can help:

  • We can provide flexible short-term, planned or emergency respite to meed the needs of carers and the care recipient when no other supports are available.
  • We can link carers to other services
  • We can provide an after hours response for respite when a carer is experiencing an emergency or crisis.
  • We can provide information about the full range of respite options available.
  • We can assist with booking respite in an aged care facility.
